Zine of the Month
Zine of the Month started in 2024. I would send zines out every month for free in the mail. Subscribers were asked to donate stamps or money if they could. Thank you to everyone who donated; it really helped. I was able to run it for two and a half years; however, in the third year, I did not have the capacity to do it as it grew. It became too pricey to run for free. However, sharing creative expression and accessible art is important to me. Now ZOTM runs digitally and you have the option to print and fold if you’d like. Thank you for being a part of this.
September Zine of the Month 2026 | B’day
“I want something big. Something that says I am here, BEYONCE.” -Beyoncé
B’day is one of my favorite albums ever because of tracks like Deja Vu, Freakum Dress, Green Light, and Kitty Kat. I love the Homecoming album too and the B’day songs are my favorite musical breakdowns. This September marked the album’s 20th anniversary and Beyoncé’s 45th birthday. Finding this BET DVD at a thrift shop in Mt. Holly felt so serendipitous. I am so impressed by Beyoncé’s artistry.

August Zine of the Month 2026 | Notes from Octavia
“You get to make your own world and write yourself in.”- Octavia Butler.
When I think about Octavia, I think about the Parable Series. I was particularly drawn to Earthseed!!! I loved the way Lauren created her own religion in a time of crisis. I both admired and adopted the practice of laying out principles, stories, quotes, and poems that guide you and make you feel empowered. Anyone can make their own world and write themselves in it. Seeing how her journaling practice reinforced her creative practice is very inspiring.
